Individual leading performances dominated tonight's 69th Golden Globe Awards with both major winners starring in films that also won Best Picture accolades.
Winning in the dramatic categories were The Descendants and George Clooney, along with Meryl Streep for The Iron Lady.
For Comedy or Musical, the major winners were The Artist and its star Jean Dujardin, as well as Michelle Williams for Marilyn Monroe biopic My Week With Marilyn.
Christopher Plummer (Beginners) and Octavia Spencer (The Help) won for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, respectively.
In non-acting accolades, an absent Woody Allen won Best Screenplay for Midnight In Paris and Martin Scorsese picked up his third Golden Globe, Best Director for Hugo.
